BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Authorities say an assistant found Caddo Parish District Attorney Charles Scott dead inside his Baton Rouge hotel room at the Cook Hotel and Conference Center on LSU’s campus.

Caddo Parish Coroner Dr. Todd Thoma told The Advocate (https://bit.ly/1zMmBQp ) the 67-year-old Scott was found dead Wednesday morning by some assistant district attorneys after he missed a meeting.

Thoma said there was no evidence of foul play in Scott’s death.

Thoma said while East Baton Rouge Parish death investigators completed the initial investigation into Scott’s death, his body will be returned to Shreveport where a full autopsy will be conducted.

Hillar Moore III, East Baton Rouge Parish’s district attorney, said Scott was in Baton Rouge for a Louisiana District Attorney’s Association board meeting and also for some legislative matters.
