CALERA, Ala. (AP) - A dog bit an officer trying to arrest two suspects who jumped in an Alabama river in an attempt to escape.
Al.com (https://bit.ly/1DLpDYU ) reports a Bibb County sheriff’s deputy saw Gordon and Kenneth Wayne Lawley near the Cahaba River while he was patrolling the area Tuesday afternoon in Calera. A spokesman says both had warrants. As he put them in handcuffs, a small dog the men had with them bit the deputy.
The men jumped into the river to escape. The deputy saw one get out on the other side of the river and arrested him.
Shelby County deputies arrested the second man after he was spotted later that night.
The officer has been treated and the dog is being quarantined.
