Driver dead after car slams into tree in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A man has died after his car slammed into a tree on a busy Philadelphia roadway.

The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday on the northbound inner lanes of Roosevelt Boulevard between Tyson and Ryan avenues. That’s in the city’s Mayfair section.

Emergency workers cut the 40-year-old driver out of the mangled vehicle. He was pronounced dead at Aria-Torresdale Hospital.
