BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - An early-morning fire has left a family with nine children homeless.

WBMA-TV (https://bit.ly/1K47M1w ) reports Tuesday’s blaze went through a Birmingham home and destroyed everything in it. Firefighters say the fire appears to be accidental and started in the back of the house.

Mosetta Calhoun and her nine children, ages 3 to 14, weren’t at home. Calhoun says she was dropping them off at school when the fire started. Calhoun also says her house had been broken into recently, but doesn’t think the incidents are related.

The Red Cross is putting the family in a motel for two nights and supplying food. Calhoun’s church is also looking to help the family find a place to stay and find clothes for the children.
