DETROIT (AP) - A 21-year-old Detroit man has been charged in connection with sexual assaults of five women that stretch back to 2008 when he was 14.

Michael Sykes was arraigned Wednesday on five counts of kidnapping and 17 counts of criminal sexual conduct. He also faces robbery and gun charges.

The Wayne County prosecutor’s office says three women, ages 19-21, were sexually assaulted and robbed March 29 on the city’s northwest side.

Two women also were sexually assaulted and robbed in a west side alley seven years ago.

Sykes faces an April 29 probable cause hearing and May 6 preliminary examination.

The Associated Press left a message Wednesday with an attorney listed in court records as representing Sykes on separate charges of resisting a police officer and carrying a concealed weapon.
