FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - A North Texas man has been sentenced to life in prison for the 2014 killing of a shoe store manager during a robbery.

Jacob Everett of Arlington was convicted Wednesday of capital murder. Prosecutors in Fort Worth did not seek the death penalty so the 22-year-old Everett receives an automatic life prison term without chance for parole.

Authorities say 23-year-old Randy Pacheco of Dallas was working at a Red Wing Shoes store in an Arlington strip mall in February 2014 when he was fatally shot. About $200 was stolen.

Investigators released surveillance video of a person wearing a hooded sweatshirt, carrying a gun and pointing. Tips led to the arrest of Everett, who pleaded guilty to robbery but denied killing Pacheco.

Red Wing Shoe Company is based in Minnesota.
