NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Delgado Community College will break ground this week on a new maritime and industrial center in New Orleans.

WVUE-TV (https://bit.ly/1HTUfue) reports the college will begin construction Friday on the Delgado Maritime and Industrial Training Center. The facility will provide maritime and industrial firefighting, radar, safety and U.S. Coast Guard training. The 18,750-square-foot building will replace the existing one. The $7 million project is funded by state bonds.

Delgado Community College has campuses throughout New Orleans and is home to around 9,000 students.
