BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - The parents of a missing University of Colorado student are organizing a search for him along a popular hiking trail.

Police say 20-year-old Berry Tyler Allen was last heard from Thursday.

He is from the Chicago suburb of Western Springs and his parents are in Boulder to help search for him.

Mother Sheryl Allen told the Daily Camera newspaper (https://bit.ly/1cWQfNL ) that her son texted his off-campus roommate on Thursday to say had stayed over at a friend’s house before having an all-night study session at the library. His parents think he may have gone hiking at one of two trails, including Chautauqua (shuh-TAWK’-wuh), where they will search Wednesday. Sheryl Allen says her son’s love of nature was one of the reasons he transfered to Colorado from Clemson University.
