ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A 23-year-old man has been found guilty of multiple rape charges for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl on a Rochester street the day after his release from prison last August.

Prosecutors say Michael Caruthers grabbed the girl as she was walking on a downtown street the morning of August 23 and started raping her on the sidewalk before dragging her to the porch of an abandoned building to continue the attack.

The day before, Caruthers was released from a state prison in Watertown after serving just over two years of a 2 ½ to 5 year sentence for robbery.

A Monroe County jury found Caruthers guilty Tuesday of multiple rape and assault charges. He faces up to 50 years in prison when he’s sentenced on May 21.
