BETHLEHEM, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities are trying to identify the body of a man that was found floating in the Hudson River just south of Albany.

Police in the suburban town of Bethlehem say they received a report around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday that an employee of the North Albany Terminal Co. had spotted a corpse in the river near the oil storage company’s dock on the river’s west bank.

Firefighters removed the body from the water.

Police say the body appears to have been that of a man in his 40s. Officials say it had had been in the water for an extended period of time.

The body was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital.
