MARION, Iowa (AP) - Police have identified a woman who was killed in a grocery store parking lot in eastern Iowa.
The victim was identified as 29-year-old Lynnsey Donald of Marion. Police say she died of apparent stab wounds Tuesday. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
Marion Police Chief Harry Daugherty says 32-year-old Nicholas Luerkens, of Cedar Rapids, is suspected of assaulting Donald. A news release from the police department says the two had lived together in the past, and that Donald had moved out a few months ago.
Authorities say Luerkens, who appeared to be suffering from self-inflicted stab wounds, was taken to a hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening. Police say there is no timetable for his release.
An investigation is ongoing. Police say charges are pending.
