EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio (AP) - Authorities are investigating whether a nine-year-old boy was chased into a northeast Ohio street by other children before he was fatally struck by a city vehicle.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says nine-year-old Devion Lesure was struck by an East Cleveland service truck around 3:30 Friday afternoon. Officers said Devion was reportedly chased into the roadway by two other boys who were allegedly throwing rocks at him and his sister.
The boy was taken to a local hospital and died Tuesday.
East Cleveland police are investigating why Devion was in the street at the time of the accident.
East Cleveland Mayor Gary Norton tells WEWS-TV that the city’s law department is determining if charges should be filed against the other boys.
