PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police are searching for a man who they say is impersonating a cop to rob unsuspecting victims in the Philadelphia-area.
Philadelphia police Lt. John Walker told WPVI-TV (https://6abc.cm/1QhtVhb ) Tuesday that authorities believe the man is responsible for two robberies in Philadelphia and one in Darby last week.
Walker says he impersonated a plainclothes officer to rob a woman in Philadelphia Friday. Surveillance video shows the man approach the 36-year-old woman with what appears to be a badge around his neck. After the woman puts her purse on the ground, the thief grabs it and takes off to a getaway car.
Police say he also stole money from a house a day before the purse snatching and is responsible for one other robbery.
He was armed in two of the robberies.
