LAGRANGE, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say one person was injured when a small plane crashed at a west Georgia airport.

Lt. Chris Taylor of LaGrange Fire Department tells the LaGrange Daily News the plane crashed at LaGrange-Callaway Airport in Troup County shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday. He says the plane hit the ground near the end of a runway.

A state trooper pulled the 51-year-old pilot from the wreckage. The pilot was the only one onboard the plane and was flown to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment of injuries suffered in the crash.

The name of the pilot, who owned the single-engine Pitts Model 12 plane, was not released.

The National Transportation Safety Board was notified and was expected to investigate the crash.
