ORLEANS, N.Y. (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard says a salvage crew has refloated a freighter ran aground under the Thousands Islands Bridge spanning the St. Lawrence Seaway in northern New York.

The Coast Guard says the 621-foot bulk carrier Juno was refloated around 7 a.m. Wednesday and is anchored at Mason Point, a few miles downriver from where it ran aground around 1 a.m. Monday.

Officials the Bahamian-flagged vessel was carrying a load of sugar to Toronto when it lost steering and grounded in the American Narrows off Wellesley Island in the Jefferson County town of Orleans. No injuries or pollution was reported.

The ship’s owners say the steering has been fixed. Tug boats assisted Tuesday’s refloating.

The Coast Guard says several other vessels were idled by the blocked shipping lane, which has reopened to navigation.
