SANDSTON, Va. (AP) - About 70 Virginia National Guard members are coming home from a deployment to Kuwait.

The Virginia National Guard says the soldiers planned and coordinated combat sustainment support for U.S. and coalition forces in Kuwait and the surrounding region.

The soldiers are assigned to the Virginia Beach-based 529th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 329th Regional Support.

They were deployed in July 2014 and arrived at Fort Hood, Texas, on Monday. They will remain at Fort Hood for seven to 10 days for medical evaluation, reintegration training and administrative tasks to transition to National Guard status from federal active duty.

A schedule for the soldiers’ return to Virginia hasn’t been finalized.
