Couple involved in murder-suicide in Fort Collins ID’d

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - Authorities have released the names of a married couple who were involved in a murder-suicide in Fort Collins.

Police say 65-year-old Darrell Hoyer shot 62-year-old Merta Hoyer once in the head before he hiked to an area near the couple’s home and shot himself in the head.

The Coloradoan reports (https://goo.gl/5z0duq ) police went to the couple’s home early Thursday morning on a report of suspicious circumstances and found the woman dead inside. Darrell Hoyer’s body was found about an hour and a half later.

Police say he also fatally shot the couple’s two dogs.

The coroner’s office identified the couple Friday. No other information has been released.
