LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Entergy Arkansas is asking state regulators to approve a $167 million increase in customers’ rates next year to help improve the electrical grid and purchase a new power plant unit near El Dorado.
The utility on Friday asked the Arkansas Public Service Commission to approve its proposal that would increase the bill of a typical residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours monthly by approximately $13 a month- or 45 cents a day.
Entergy said in a news release the rate increase would help pay for the grid enhancements and the purchase of a 495-megawatt unit at the Union Power Station near El Dorado.
Entergy Arkansas is a subsidiary of Entergy Corporation and provides electricity to approximately 700,000 customers in 63 counties in Arkansas.
