MAUMELLE, Ark. (AP) - A Maumelle school teacher has been arrested for driving while intoxicated after crashing her car into a student’s vehicle in the school’s parking lot.

Police say the student was in the vehicle when it was struck Friday morning, but was not injured.

Police say the teacher went inside the school and was later treated for “a possible medical situation” that was unrelated to the accident.

The teacher was taken to a hospital and police say she faces charges of DWI and leaving the scene of an accident.

A school district spokeswoman says the teacher has been suspended.
