PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Paul McCartney is returning to Philadelphia for the first time since playing at the Wachovia Center five years ago.

A banner featuring the 72-year-old former Beatle was hung Friday over the side of the Wells Fargo Center promoting the June 21 event.

The official announcement came after a series of teases earlier in the day. LiveNation, a live-events company, tweeted pictures of a violin-shaped bass guitar- long associated with McCartney_outside LOVE Park and along Broad Street with City Hall in the background.

The “Out There” tour has McCartney singing Beatles classics and songs from his former band Wings, and his 2013 studio album “NEW.”

McCartney’s Philadelphia stop follows his June headlining slot at the Firefly Music Festival in Delaware.

Tickets go on sale at noon May 1.
