ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) - A 23-year-old Anderson woman who authorities say was stabbed to death by a woman posing as a child-welfare worker had contact with the Indiana Department of Child Services two years ago.
The Times of Munster (https://bit.ly/1yXUMcA ) reports court documents show a case manager from the agency interacted with Samantha Fleming after a domestic disturbance in Crown Point in February 2013. Fleming was found stabbed to death in a Gary home last week.
Police say Fleming went to the home with her 3-week old daughter and 36-year-old Geraldine Jones, who identified herself as a child-welfare worker. According to a probable cause affidavit, Jones told Fleming on April 6 that she needed to go with her to a hearing.
Jones was charged earlier this week with murder, kidnapping and criminal confinement in Fleming’s death.
According to police, Fleming’s relatives in Indianapolis have her child.
