NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Woodbury Police Chief Kevin Mooneyham has been arrested after a federal grand jury charged him with theft and wire fraud.

David Rivera, the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee, announced on Friday that the 47-year-old chief is accused of stealing federal grant money that was supposed to pay for DUI enforcement.

Rivera’s office said agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested Mooneyham Friday morning. He was scheduled to appear before a federal magistrate judge later in the day.

The police chief is accused of filling out false timesheets and being paid more than $25,000 in grant money from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The grant money was supposed to pay for overtime patrols for DUI enforcement.

Court records do not list an attorney for Mooneyham.
