HUACHUCA CANYON, Ariz. (AP) - Huachuca Canyon north of Sierra Vista has been closed indefinitely because of wild animal sightings in the area.
Officials say a bear followed and charged at hikers in the canyon. A mountain lion has also been spotted.
Authorities locked the gate at the mouth of the canyon to prevent cars from going in. But the canyon is also closed off to hikers, bikers and runners.
Officials say they’ll reopen the canyon once the animals are gone and no longer pose a risk.
