EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - Honda’s Eli Tomac raced to his third victory of the AMA Supercross season, beating 450SX series champion Ryan Dungey on Saturday at MetLife Stadium.

Tomac took the lead from Honda’s Cole Seely on the 13th of 20 laps in the main event.

“The track really broke down out there,” Tomac said. “I just tried to be as consistent as I could and keep in on two wheels and I started to close in on Cole. He made a couple mistakes that allowed me to get on his rear fender and I just pulled the trigger in the whoops.”

Dungey, the KTM star who has seven victories this season, also got around Seely.

“The start wasn’t the greatest and I had a couple close calls out there,” Dungey said. “The track got really nasty, and with about five laps to go (after passing Seely) I just settled in.”

Seely finished third.

KTM’s Marvin Musquin won the Eastern Regional 250SX race to wrap up the season title. The Frenchman has six victories in eight races this season.

“(The championship) feels great and winning the main event makes it even better,” Musquin said. “Every time you race you want to do good, and today I made it happen. I’m ready to move on and chase some more dreams. … We have a great team at KTM and I’m excited to keep it going.”
