GARY, Ind. (AP) - Northern Indiana authorities say a 48-year-old Gary man out walking his dog was shot to death in a drive-by shooting that also left his dog wounded.
The Lake County coroner’s office says Keith Dumas was found dead Friday on a street near his home in Gary’s Glen Park neighborhood.
Lt. Thomas Pawlak of the Gary Police Department tells The (Munster) Times (https://bit.ly/1OSKSLz ) that a Gary police officer who was involved in a nearby traffic stop when he heard the gunshots about 10:05 a.m. Friday.
Dumas was pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds.
Pawlak says animal control officers transported the dog to an animal clinic in Portage for treatment. The dog, believed to be a Rottweiler, was shot in the groin.
