DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - A man found guilty of robbing a couple at gunpoint as they left a southwest Ohio racino has been sentenced to six years in prison.
Montgomery County’s prosecutor says 54-year-old Douglas Hughes was sentenced Friday in Dayton. Hughes was convicted earlier this month on two counts each of aggravated robbery and kidnapping.
A message seeking comment was left Friday at the office of Hughes’ attorney.
Authorities said Hughes approached the couple in the parking lot of the Hollywood Dayton Racino on Dec. 15 and asked them for a ride. Investigators said the couple agreed and Hughes pulled out a firearm inside their van and demanded money before walking away from the vehicle.
The prosecutor said Hughes was identified through casino security video and his casino player’s card.
