Authorities: Mom of dead newborn found at college is student

NEW CONCORD, Ohio (AP) - Authorities know the identity of the mother of a dead newborn found on the campus of Muskingum University in central Ohio.

The Columbus Dispatch reports (https://bit.ly/1Fm0zdn ) a Muskingum County sheriff’s captain confirms the mother is a student at the school. Her name has not been made public and no charges have been filed.

The newborn’s body was found outside a sorority house around 9 p.m. Wednesday. The sheriff’s captain says investigators spoke to the woman that night.

The captain says investigators are awaiting results from an autopsy and toxicology tests.
