NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Navy Week is in full swing in New Orleans after people joined the crews of six ships from three countries at the NOLA Navy Week Gala.
Held inside the National World War II Museum, the Friday night party kicked off seven days of special events, including tours of ships, community projects, a fireworks display and a seafood cookout.
The Times-Picayune reports (https://bit.ly/1JEOSxj ) the celebration included music from the Navy Concert Band and the Uptown Jazz Orchestra, featuring trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis.
Six ships will line the banks of the Mississippi through Wednesday. Four of them are part of the U.S. military, while the other two are part of the British Royal Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy.
