EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (AP) - A West Warwick man has appeared in court on charges he sexually assaulted and threatened a waitress who worked at the restaurant he runs with his wife in East Greenwich.
Thirty-year-old Treven Leonard is charged with second-degree sexual assault and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
WJAR-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1Dw2nMk) Leonard shook his head “no” in Kent County District Court on Friday as a police officer described the accusations against him.
Police said the woman filed a complaint on April 17, alleging Leonard had groped her in his office at DiMare Restaurant on April 8 and later threatened her several times with a knife.
Leonard’s attorney said in court that Leonard’s wife owns the business, which they run together.
Leonard’s bail was set at $25,000 and he was ordered not to have contact with his accuser.
