SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - A union that represents hundreds of workers at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe is accusing the hospital of firing a longtime nurse in retaliation for her criticism.
The Santa Fe New Mexican says (https://bit.ly/1ECP965) the union filed a complaint Friday with the National Labor Relations Board.
An attorney for Diane Spencer, a registered nurse for more than 20 years, says she was dismissed over “a very trivial matter.”
Spencer has testified in recent years in favor of legislation involving hospital staffing levels.
Hospital CEO Bruce Tassin says personnel issues are not discussed publicly.
The board is expected to investigate Spencer’s case within a month.
The union ratified a new three-year labor contract with the hospital in October after months of tense negotiations.
