EL RANCHO, N.M. (AP) - A man suspected of killing a couple and their adult son on Father’s Day nearly four years ago has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The Santa Fe New Mexican reports (https://bit.ly/1JoUeAl) that 20-year-old Nicholas Ortiz entered the plea during his arraignment Friday.

Ortiz has been charged with three counts of murder, aggravated burglary, conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with evidence.

District Judge Glenn Ellington denied Ortiz release on bond, saying community tension surrounding the slayings could mean a “high risk of additional criminal activity.”

Authorities say 53-year-old Dixie Ortiz, 55-year-old Lloyd Ortiz and their special-needs son, 21-year-old Steven Ortiz, were found dead from head trauma in their El Rancho home in June 2011.

Nicholas Ortiz, who is not related to the victims, was arrested last February.
