SAITAMA, Japan (AP) - Takahiro Sekine and Yuki Muto both scored as Urawa Reds defeated Nagoya Grampus 2-1 on Saturday to remain undefeated and provisionally increase its lead at the top of the J-League.
Sekine scored his first goal of the season in the 39th minute and Muto made it 2-0 seven minutes after the break as Urawa improved to 17 points, three ahead of Kawasaki Frontale and FC Tokyo.
Renato scored twice to power Frontale to a 3-0 win over last place Ventforet Kofu while Kosuke Ota scored in Tokyo’s 1-0 win over Montedio Yamagata.
Gamba Osaka, which hosts Albirex Niigata in the only match Sunday, has 13 points.
Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Sagan Tosu also have 13 points. Sagan finished in a 1-1 draw with Kashiwa Reysol while Hiroshima beat Shimizu S-Pulse 2-0.
In other games, Yuzo Iwakami scored as Matsumoto Yamaga beat Vegalta Sendai 1-0, Yokohama F Marinos coasted to a 3-0 win over Shonan Bellmare and Vissel Kobe beat Kashima Antlers 2-1.
