RENO, Nev. (AP) - Washoe County Commission Chairwoman Marsha Berkbigler says developers of a downtown Reno stadium have reached a tentative agreement with the county to pay some $1.2 million in back taxes owed on it.
Berkbigler says developers Herb Simon and Jerry and Stuart Katzoff also have agreed to pay future property taxes on Aces Ballpark, which is home of the Arizona Diamondbacks’ AAA baseball team.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports (https://on.rgj.com/1HBoOV5 ) the deal calls for the county to forgive the developers of $1.4 million in interest and penalties.
If approved by county commissioners at a meeting Tuesday, the agreement would end a longstanding dispute over property taxes for the stadium, which opened in 2009.
The full agreement is expected to be released to the public on Monday.
