SANTA ROSA, Calif. (AP) - A Northern California woman shot by deputies after a wild chase has died of her wounds.
Santa Rosa police say Karen Janks died Friday at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports (https://bit.ly/1Gt3X7S ) the 46-year-old woman was critically injured after deputies opened fire on her car after she rammed into officials Wednesday night. Three deputies were injured.
The incident began when someone called to report a motorist driving the wrong way in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 in Windsor.
Authorities say deputies stopped Janks but then backed her car into a group of deputies. Multiple deputies opened fire and hit her an unknown number of times.
