CULLMAN, Ala. (AP) - The Cullman Regional Airport Board is trying to strike a deal so it can trim trees on neighboring land, making it easier for aircraft to approach.

The Cullman Times reports the airport’s board has authorized its attorney to negotiate over three tracts of land, all toward the south end of the runway.

Mayor Max Townson said the board wants to trim back the trees and obtain an easement allowing aircraft to fly in the area.

The board also agreed to raise Airport Manager Ben Harrison’s salary to $65,000.
