STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) - A Bridgeport man has been killed after his car was rear-ended on the Merritt Parkway, and a state highway worker laying flares after the crash was injured.

The Connecticut Post reports (https://bit.ly/1OVzRZT ) said both cars went out of control, and 27-year-old Jesus Rivera was trapped in his vehicle. He died at St. Vincent’s Hospital after crash early Sunday morning. His passenger, 22-year-old Jessica Dasilva of Bridgeport, was treated for serious injuries.

The other driver, 26-year-old Jonathan Rosa-Whitlock of Bridgeport, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. His car landed in the middle of the highway, forcing police to shut it down for a time.

Fifty-four-year-old Kevin Halloran was seriously injured when a driver hit his state truck as he laid flares on the Sikorsky Bridge after the first crash.
