QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (AP) - A former New York gym owner has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for selling prescription painkillers and welfare fraud.
Warren County Judge John Hall sentenced 44-year-old Scott Rabine of Fort Edward on Friday.
Rabine pleaded guilty in February to felony drug charges and welfare fraud. He’s the former owner of Spartan Fitness in Glens Falls.
Court records show Rabine used a welfare benefits card to pay for some of the oxycodone pills he sold to police on at least four occasions.
Under the plea deal, authorities agreed to drop charges of illegally selling anabolic steroids.
Rabine has paid $8,755 in restitution for the welfare funds and the undercover police drug-buy money.
