PRINCETON, Ind. (AP) - A motorist has been airlifted to a hospital for treatment after a pickup truck and a train collided in southwestern Indiana.
Gibson County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Bruce Vanoven says a 76-year-old man was trying to beat a freight train. He says the truck was struck while crossing tracks east of Princeton, about 25 miles north of Evansville.

The accident remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office and by the Norfolk Southern railroad.
