GATES, N.Y. (AP) - A 31-year-old convicted drug dealer on parole has been charged with murder after a shooting at a western New York bar that left one man dead and six wounded.
Police in the Rochester suburb of Gates say David Alligood of Greece pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder Saturday afternoon and is being held in the Monroe County jail.
Gates Police Chief James VanBrederode says Alligood was taken into custody when he was spotted by a firefighter about a half mile from the scene of the shooting around 1:30 a.m. Saturday. He said Alligood was released on parole in September after doing time for drug dealing.
Police say about 150 people were in the Gates Pub when 37-year-old Rick Jones was shot to death and six others were wounded.
