RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - A Stokes County man has been charged with DWI and commercial DWI after the tractor-trailer he was driving crashed on state Highway 56 in Granville County.

Authorities tell local media outlets that Jack Watts of King was driving west on state Highway 56 at about 6 p.m. Friday when he ran off the roadway.

The truck hit a mailbox, went down an embankment, struck a utility pole and overturned.

The trailer was carrying 1,000 gallons of fuel, but authorities say the liquid didn’t spill.

Investigators said Watts was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and it wasn’t known if he had an attorney.
