TECUMSEH, Mich. (AP) - A longtime southeastern Michigan skydiving operation is grounded during a lawsuit between the company and an airport.
The Daily Telegram of Adrian reports (https://bit.ly/1z2Tjlq) a judge said Friday she couldn’t order Al Meyers Airport to allow Skydive Tecumseh to operate from its runway. A December hearing was set for the skydiving company’s complaint filed in March in Lenawee County Circuit Court.
The airport was bought last year by Andrew Aalto, who wants to discontinue skydiving. Skydive Tecumseh has operated from the airport for years and owns adjacent property but had only an oral agreement to use it.
Skydive Tecumseh’s attorney David Stimpson says the company is disappointed and is considering an appeal. Aalto’s attorney Charles Gross says the judge “made the right decision” representing a “silent majority.”
