MAINE, N.Y. (AP) - State police are seeking information from the public as they investigate a one-car crash north of Binghamton that killed a 27-year-old man.

Troopers say Jason Coyne of Newark Valley was heading west on Fredericks Road in the town of Maine early Saturday when his 2001 Jeep swerved off the road. Coyne apparently overcorrected and crossed the roadway, crashing into a large tree.

Coyne, who was alone in the Jeep and not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and died at the scene. Police say alcohol appears to have been a factor in the crash.

The accident was discovered and reported to police around 7 a.m. Saturday but police say it evidently happened several hours earlier. Police are asking anyone with information about Coyne’s whereabouts before the crash to call them at the Endwell barracks.
