INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - An apartment has displaced 25 people from their homes on the west side of Indianapolis.

Wayne Township Fire Department Capt. Michael Pruitt says the predawn fire Sunday damaged eight units at the Westpark Townhomes, including seven that were occupied. He says the 10 adults and 15 children who were displaced were being assisted by Wayne Township Victims Assistance.

Pruitt says one of the occupants was checked out for smoke inhalation but was not transported to a hospital.

He says four units have fire damage and four others have water or smoke damage or both. Investigators estimated the damage at $200,000.

Pruitt says five fire departments responded to the blaze and brought in under control in about 30 minutes.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
