NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Forecasters have issued a flash flood watch for parts of western and central Oklahoma as severe thunderstorms develop over the region.
The National Weather Service says heavy rainfall associated with widespread showers and thunderstorms could cause flash flooding in the western half of Oklahoma and adjacent areas of north Texas.
Forecasters have issued the warning Sunday and say it will remain in effect through Monday evening. Rainfall amounts during the period could be as high as 2 to 4 inches. The heavy rainfall could result in flooding as swollen creeks and rivers overflow their banks.
Forecasters say heavy rainfall will be possible across the central and eastern Oklahoma Panhandle through tonight.
