2 men charged with raping a young woman

SMITHS STATION, Ala. (AP) - Two eastern Alabama men have been charged with first-degree rape and sodomy of a young woman.

The Opelika-Auburn News (https://bit.ly/1Jv4fvR ) reports 45-year-old Moses Phillip III and 32-year-old Christopher Darez Washington were arrested at their homes Friday night.

Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies say the reported incident occurred Wednesday when a Smiths Station resident called to report a female in her 20s was banging on her door and saying she had been raped.

The woman was taken to East Alabama Medical Center where she was treated and released.

Washington and Phillips are being held in the Lee County Detention Facility. It is unclear if either have a lawyer.
