PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities in Phoenix say a 4-year-old boy has died after being submerged in a pool at a home for an unknown amount of time.

Police Sgt. James Holmes said a 20-year-old friend of the boy’s parents lost track of the boy Sunday before he was found in the pool by another person who pulled the child out and began CPR.

Fire Capt. Mark Vanacore said the boy was unconscious and unresponsive when firefighters arrived and was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The boy’s identity was not released.
