82nd Airborne holds change of responsibility ceremony

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (AP) - The 82nd Airborne Division is holding a change of responsibility ceremony for a new command sergeant major.

In the ceremony being held Monday at Stang Field, Command Sgt. Major LaMarquis Knowles will relinquish command, and Command Sgt. Major Michael Green will take over. Green most recently was the command sergeant major of the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team that’s part of the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Benning , Georgia.

The command sergeant major is the division’s most senior noncommissioned office and serves as the senior enlisted adviser to the commanding general.

Knowles took responsibility of the division in October 2012.
