MORGAN CITY, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama town has a new fire department building and a new tornado shelter.

WHNT-TV (https://bit.ly/1Jv47wr) reports the Brindlee Mountain Fire Department in Morgan City south of Huntsville moved into their new building Saturday. Behind the building is the new Morgan City Community Tornado Shelter.

Fire Chief Tommy MacPherson says a FEMA grant paid for 75 percent of the storm shelter’s cost. The fire department paid for the rest.

The shelter can hold up to 96 people. The shelter will be open to the public any time the National Weather Service issues a tornado watch or warning.
