DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) - A Dubuque man has entered a not guilty plea to two felony counts of vehicular homicide.

The Dubuque Telegraph Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1EJzD8G ) 25-year-old Alexander Engling pleaded not guilty Monday to the homicide by vehicle charges, one for alleged reckless driving and the other for alleged drunken driving.

The crash occurred the afternoon of April 5 in Holy Cross. The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office says Engling lost control of his vehicle, which entered a ditch and overturned.

His passenger, 30-year-old John Crook, of Holy Cross, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A criminal complaint says a preliminary breath test indicated Engling was intoxicated at the scene.
