GRAMERCY, La. (AP) - State police say a 31-year-old Jonesville man died on Interstate 10 in St. James Parish when he was struck by a pickup as he stood in the median after the car he was riding in had crashed minutes earlier.

The accident shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday

Troopers say 26-year-old Andre Collins, of Baton Rouge, was driving west on I-10, when he drove into the back of an SUV by 23-year-old Jamie Resendiz, of Richland, Mississippi.

They say Collins’ car ended up facing east in a westbound lane, and he and his passenger, Charles Branch Jr. got out and walked onto the median.

At the same time, troopers say a third driver swerved into the median in an attempt to avoid a disabled car, striking Branch, died at the scene.
